GoAhead Announces 10,000th Global Deployment
SelfReliant Secures Market Leader Position with New Customers Including Operax, Alcatel, Italtel, Lockheed Martin, Honeywell, NTT Comware, Nomura Research Institute

BELLEVUE, Wash. – February 21, 2006 – GoAhead® Software, the expert in building integrated middleware for highly available systems, today announced that implementations of GoAhead SelfReliant® now exceed 10,000 – more than doubling the deployment numbers reported at this time last year. The traction in the marketplace with new customers and validation by real-world deployments around the globe can be attributed to the comprehensive carrier-grade Application Ready Platform™ GoAhead provides aligning with the shift currently taking place in the telecom industry.

Telecom Equipment Manufacturers (TEMs) are moving from proprietary systems to standards-based, Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) components that work together. GoAhead Software has and continues to lead this transition, providing a standards-based high availability (HA) solution that is interoperable and pre-integrated with other providers of COTS components within the Application Ready Platform. Among these are Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (ATCA)-based hardware solutions and
carrier-grade Linux.

“GoAhead solutions in real-world deployments are yielding positive results for our customers,” stated Jim Ewel, GoAhead CEO. “Others are coming on board to benefit from GoAhead’s proven high availability solution, and we’re extremely pleased to see this increased momentum in the marketplace.” New customers such as Operax, Alcatel, Italtel, Lockheed Martin, Honeywell, NTT Comware and Nomura Research Institute (NRI) utilize GoAhead products and services to gain the competitive edge needed in a marketplace with rapidly increasing demands.  “In today’s competitive broadband market, demand from operators for systems that allow them to deploy new revenue generating services while decreasing expenditures continues to grow,” stated Emil Svanberg, Operax vice president of product management. “GoAhead’s standards-based solution allows Operax to reduce development and integration costs for our Quality of Service (QoS) Control products, in turn passing this benefit on to our customers,”
Svanberg continued.

Italtel, a leading company in carrier grade products for IP-based Next Generation Networks and Services, uses SelfReliant in its Next Generation Networks, based on i-SSW softswitch platform, and 3GPP-IMS model. “Utilizing standards-based, COTS solutions like GoAhead allows us to gain an edge in an increasingly competitive market,” said Franco Serio, responsible for the Technology Office at Italtel Product Unit Multimedia Products & Solutions.

GoAhead Leads Market with Support for Critical Standards-Based Interfaces
A founding member of the Service Availability Forum (SA Forum), GoAhead was the first software vendor to support the SA Forum’s Hardware Platform Interface (HPI) A and B specifications. The company is also one of the first to support SA Forum’s Application Interface Specifications (AIS) and has a clear roadmap for support of the SA Forum Consolidated Release announced in January 2006, which is a complete set of interfaces for service availability, including HPI, AIS and the recently available Systems Management Specification (SMS). Availability announced in January 2006, the new systems management interfaces are SNMP-based interfaces that provide distributed monitoring and control access to AIS and HPI management functionality, allowing the implementer to make utilization decisions based on their current management application infrastructure and needs, while allowing for evolution of and melding to more advanced management models and tools as they emerge in the marketplace. The first version of GoAhead SelfReliant support of the Consolidated Release will be available in the second half of 2006.
